Rapid Prototyping to Simplify Product Development
At EclipseCorp, we use some of the latest and most exciting 3D printing technology to help our clients quickly create forms that can be easily replicated, avoiding some of the painstaking processes of the past. Our rapid prototyping processes make achievable a variety of goals that previously would not have been possible to complete in a limited time frame.
3D Prototyping: What is it?
The rapid prototyping process is the use of 3D computer data to swiftly design and fabricate a scale model of a physical item. Once the prototype is created, the data can be used to easily change aspects – size, shape, design, etc. – and quickly create additional prototypes, making the process decidedly faster and ultimately allowing products to get into the market much sooner.
EclipseCorp utilizes thermoforming techniques, which entails heating up a sheet of plastic material until it becomes pliable and then forming it into a 3D shape. After the new creation is trimmed, sanded, buffed and finished into a usable product, it can easily be printed in different sizes, as well as quickly mass-produced. We can use this process to take much of the hassle and delay out of fabrication, streamlining your organization’s creation process.
An extremely useful tool for mass production of large objects, rotocasting is one of our newer 3D prototyping services at EclipseCorp. It involves a heated hollow mold which is filled with a resin material. It is then slowly rotated (usually around two perpendicular axes), causing the softened material to disperse and stick to the walls of the mold.
